Recent stuff

crashrose's birthday party went well. Thanks for coming, if you came. Maybe we'll see you next year, if you couldn't make it. :) Good food, good booze, good friends.

Chase is pissing me off again. I paid the card off before the due date. Then I forgot about it. Then I checked my credit report, and I have an overdue balance with them.

Why am I showing an amount due/past due? I paid this card
off and haven't used it since. Please advise on this
charge.

-----ORIGINAL MESSAGE-----
Hello Cynthia,

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused
you.

We are replying to your inquiry about finance charges that
appeared on a recent monthly billing statement.

Because our records indicate that this finance charge was
properly billed, we are unable to provide your account
with a credit for this charge.

Whenever an account's current statement balance is not
paid in full by the payment due date, finance charges are
applied to the balance and will appear on the statement.
Because your statement balance was not paid in full by the
payment due date, finance charges were assessed. You may
receive an additional statement of residual finance
charges for the time period between the date your
statement is generated and the day your payment in full is
received.

You may wish to review your recent statements to verify
statement balances and payments.

Thank you for your quick response. I really do appreciate the explanation. I have no quarrel with you or any of the customer service personnel I've dealt with at Chase, but I find the company you represent rather infuriating.

I paid you -- in full -- on 8/5. My payment was not late. It was receive and processed by you on 8/5. This is on my statement; I just looked it up on your website to be sure we have the same information.

My previous experiences lead me to believe that the current amount due ($9.10), if paid in full immediately, will not be sufficient to ensure I'm not billed by you again. Please -- in the simplest terms possible -- just tell me what amount I need to pay you in order to pay this card off entirely, including all past, present, and future finance charges and fees. $50? $100? Just give me a total, and I will pay it.

Thank you,
Cynthia

And here's an interesting thing I took from kittengirly. It rather eloquently describes what I really feel is my biggest weakness or, at least, one of my biggest weaknesses.

Your Birthdate: August 1

You are a natural born leader, even if those leadership talents haven't been developed yet.
You have the power and self confidence to succeed in life, and your power grows daily.
Besides power, you also have a great deal of creativity that enables you to innovate instead of fail.
You are a visionary, seeing the big picture instead of all of the trivial little details.

Your strength: Your supreme genius

Your weakness: Your inappropriate sensitivity

Your power color: Gold

Your power symbol: Star

Your power month: January
