We made the decision to put down our new, sick fish, O'Toole.

I know I should feel better about this because the fish isn't suffering and won't starve to death or anything terrible, but it's really difficult to be OK with killing your pet.

crashrose looked up a humane way to do it. Apparently, alcohol is an anesthetic for fish, so we put him in a solution of vodka. He'll go to sleep and pass away.

He hasn't been eating, and he was never healthy. It's something internal he must've had when we got him, and we did our very best to treat him and get him well.

Tonight, he was lying on the bottom of the tank, hardly moving. He seemed to have a lot of trouble staying afloat. He looked terrible, and we figured he wouldn't make it through the night.

No. More. Pets.
